Experience
After graduating with my bachelor's degree, I enrolled in a graduate program in education and became a certified classroom teacher in California. During this time I've worked as a homeroom teacher for a number of grades in elementary school, in addition to teaching special lessons to students who speak English as a second language. In addition, I've also worked many years as a substitute teacher for students of all grade levels, including kindergarten. Along with teaching in California, I received a TEFL certificate in Spain and went on to teach English in Mexico and Spain to people of all ages. My experience as a homeroom and ESL teacher has taught me the importance of customizing learning material, which is why I tailor lessons to fit each student's individual needs. While English is my main passion, I enjoy teaching social studies, writing, reading, and math. As an effective tutor, I believe it's important to connect with your students on a personal level so that you can teach them in a way that works best for them. I also believe that it's necessary to maintain a positive and friendly learning environment where people feel comfortable to learn. Outside of education, my other hobbies include gardening, traveling, and painting.
